1. Climatic Factors:

This is one of the major factors affecting crop yield. Climate Determines the kind of crops and animals that will be grown in a particular habitat. The condition of these climatic factors at a certain time might not be the same but it will follow certain trends. These conditions include:

a. Rainfall: The amount of rainfall that is released over a certain period is a huge determination for survival. Some plants can survive any rainfall situation, while some plants need a particular amount of rainfall. A minimal or an exceeding amount of rainfall can cause huge problems to their yields.

Rainfall determines the distribution of crops and animals. It is the powerhouse for seed germination. Most importantly it is the main character that determines the type of vegetation in a particular area.

b. Drought: On the other hand is an insufficient amount of rainfall over a certain period. This drought doesn’t mean a loss in Agric produce. Even some plants would highly survive in drought instead of the normal rainfall. However, most crops have a reduced growth during the dry season. Animals suffer from these as well because they have less water and less food to eat. This condition is one of the recent in Africa.

Edaphic factors are the factors that affect the kind of soil for plants. It is almost one of the factors affecting crop yield. Some soil is known to be very acidic while some are alkaline. Just like this contact occurs in soil, there is this requirement for plants as well.

If a certain would is too acidic or too alkaline for the patient, it might cause a big disadvantage.

Lastly on the factors affecting crop yield are biotic factors. These are the living factors that surround crops and animals. These living factors go from the farmer, disease, pest, weeds and many other living factors that determine the livelihood of plants.

Some of these factors are ready to retard the growth of these crops and livestock. This is due to the relationship shown by them.

This might be parasitic, mutualism, commensalism and so many other factors that will damage or strengthen the plants.

All these factors must be watched for the effective and sufficient yield of plants.
