Chike Biography
Chike is the stage name of Chike-Ezekpeazu Osebuka, a singer, composer, and actor from Nigeria. He participated in the 2015 season of The Voice Nigeria and the Nigerian reality series Project Fame West Africa.
Chike made his acting debut in the Africa Magic Showcase episode Battleground as Mayowa Badmus. He is also an ambassador for Airtel Nigeria. Chike is from Onitsha in Anambra State, although being born and raised in Lagos and Enugu, respectively.
Early Life, Childhood and Education
Mr. and Mrs. Osebuka, who were from Anambra State, welcomed Chike Osebuka into the world on January 28, 1993 in Enugu, Nigeria. He is one of four children in his family. Chike’s family, especially the fact that his parents were musicians, had an impact on his decision to pursue a career in music. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Covenant University.
Chike experienced rigorous upbringing and demanding parents. Before moving to Ogun State to pursue his tertiary education and enrolling at Covenant University for a Bachelor of Science degree, he completed his primary and secondary school in Lagos.
Career
Chike’s birth into a family that valued music so highly helped his career in the music industry. He started singing in 2009 and participated in several competitions to hone his abilities. He won the title of best vocalist in a high school competition that same year.
Chike took part in Project Fame West Africa, a music competition held by MTN, an African telecommunications corporation where he first gained notoriety. Chike placed in the top ten of the music competition but was disqualified before the final round, preventing him from moving on to the next round.
Chike sang a version of the UK song “Roses” on The Voice Nigeria after being kicked out of Project Fame. James Arthur, the X Factor winner, was supported by all four coaches, who turned around in their seats and rose up. He was referred to as a rising star by Patoranking, who pledged to make him one. He made the decision to join Team Patoranking after hearing all of his proposals.
He sang “No Woman, No Cry” by Bob Marley and the Wailers in the competition’s finale, then a moving rendition of Kiss Daniel’s “Mama.” He was referred to as “Ladies’ man” by the show’s host and “Chike-ranking” by Patoranking, his tutor. On July 31, 2016, he came in second place in The Voice Nigeria’s inaugural season, after Team Waje’s A’rese.
Following the competition, Chike and the other top four contestants on The Voice Nigeria were all signed to Universal Republic. In December 2016 and early 2017, he and the Universal Republic record company jointly released his debut single, “Fancy U.”
In order to pursue a solo career, Chike quit Universal Republic in November 2017. His following single, “Beautiful People,” was made available in February 2018. On the television program 2020 Big Brother Lockdown, Chike made a special guest appearance and launched his 14-track album, Boo of the Booless.
