Early Life & Education
Pheelz was born on the 5th of June, 1994 in Lagos. Although he was born and raised in Lagos state’s Ojo Local Government Area, he was actually from Ogun state. Pheelz began singing in church choirs at the age of 10 while still in high school. He was a student at Afro Ajangbadi’s Ideal Comprehensive High School. He worked under a record company named Coded Tunez, operated by I.D Cabasa, where he met Olamide. Pheelz contributed vocals to the song “I’m Going In” from Olamide’s Rapsodi album in 2011.
Pheelz first gained attention as a producer in 2012, when the singles he worked on with Olamide, “First of All” and “Fucking with the Devil,” reached the top of the charts. Pheelz was listed by NotJustOK as one of the “Top 10 Hottest producers in Nigeria” in 2013. With one exception, Baddest Guy Ever Liveth (BGEL), Olamide’s third studio album, was produced by Pheelz. The album was made available in November 2013.
Pheelz was nominated for a 2013 Headies award and his recognition in the Nigerian music business increased as a result of the album. In 2014, he was also nominated for Producer of the Year at the Headies Awards 2014 edition and at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. Pheelz is the creator of a number of well-known songs and albums, such as The Chairman by M.I. Abaga, Seyi or Shay by Seyi Shay, and Ghetto University by Runtown. Pheelz and COPILOT Music and Sound collaborated in 2014 to create a rendition of Carlinhos Brown’s “Maria Caipirnha (Samba da Bahia)”. The arrangement was created for Visa’s “Samba of the World,” a digital ad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and it portrayed the musical instruments and styles of Nigeria.
In 2020, Pheelz won the “Producer of the Year” category at The Headies 2020 edition.
