Significance Of Agricultural Mechanization In West Africa

Agricultural Mechanization

Agricultural Mechanization or Farm mechanization runs through a lot of specifications and classes. It explains a lot about the reason behind the standstill of the agricultural sector of the African continents. This is the reason we are acknowledging the article to the significance, importance and reason farmers in west Africa should imbibe the same plan as farmers around the world should.

Till today, farmers in the nook and cranny of West Africa still believe extremely in using crude and traditional tools over agricultural mechanization. However, this is not the case in another part of the world even though they are not as enriched as people in this part of the continent.

What is Agricultural Mechanization?

When it coke to the gifted nature of the West African community, farm mechanisation is the process of using automatic machines for farming practices. Most farmers are used to holes, cutlasses, rakes and so on for tilling the soil, preparation. Of land, planting, fertilizer application, weeding and harvesting. Also, the livestock section requires a proportionate amount of machines as well. This goes from rearing, feeding, diet and so on used to manage.

Problems Of Agricultural Mechanization In West Africa

Many issues are militating the use of agricultural mechanizations and latest technology innovations in agriculture.

1. Poverty of Farmers

Most African farmers are poor. The poverty level of the African community is something that deserves a lot of concern. And this has been extended to the agricultural sector as well. Even the Agric sector should be where we can boast off. Due to this, farmers from west Africa can not buy or rent this at high prices and they would never get access to the use of machines on their farms.

2. Land Tenure system

The type of land tenure and laws guiding that can oppose the use of machines on farms. Farmers need to consider this.

3. Inadequate technical manpower

Using farm machines requires a lot of technical support and arrangement. This requires some knowledge or else you would lose it. If there is no one to operates his machines, it might become useless even if a farmer can thems means that it will require extra cost for technical assistance to use these machines on the farm.

4. Inadequate Facilities

Fuels, grease and other materials used in maintaining those machines always stay inadequate in the farming sector.

Advantages of Agricultural Mechanization

There are so many reasons West African farmers need to invest in mechanized agriculture but the only way they seem to be going to is the discouraging part so that they would not need to focus on the issues listed above.

1. Saves Labor

You don’t want to get tired working all day their here ly a very easy way to save yourself from the work stress of your farm. Laborer will be appreciative of the resolve of some of their work. So, this means that you can save yourself the cost and effort of labor with machines that will work on your farm.

2. Increase in Farm Revenue

Farm machines fasten work on the farm. Low materials costs are wasted. Such that you can easily account for anything on your farm. The cost of establishing that farm will be less than the cost you are going to make from that farm if you are smart about it.

3. Increase the output

If farm machines should be appreciated for anything then it should increase in output. The production, harvest, planting operations their performance on fielded outfielder pro provide the machines in place. Therefore, your yields will improve when farm machines have taken over the normal planting activities.

4. Promotes Specialization

As a farmer, you are not expected to drive a tractor or work on an agro machine when there are agro extension workers. This Agric extension worker is supposed to be in charge of carrying out post-planting activities. So, farm machines improve specialization and division of labor on the farm.

5. Reduce Manual Jobs

You know what drudgery is on the farm. That will be specifically reduced. Drudgery is the action of performing small manual actions or jobs around the farm. These jobs would even waste your time more than those that will meed a large amount of work on your farm. So, farm machines help you to finish and resolve all of these kinds of issues with a particular period they are working. They will clear and finish every single thing instead of living a  small amount of work for you.

6. Improvement in quality

Farm machines used in storage at specifically different from those traditional types in terms of efficiency. This helps to improve the quality of farm produce and reduce wastage no matter the period.

7. Saves Time And Cost

The time required to find the right laborer and the cost required to hire good laborer on the farm is too much. Such that you can easily do a lot of work on your f in a limited time and without incurring any hidden cost from anyone.

Disadvantages of Agricultural Mechanization

1. High Cost:

If you are going to do all of this with one machine, then you have to pay for it just like your cost of labor. This now depends on you; whether you choose to buy or choose to rent these machines anytime you need them. Hence, the conclusion is that you have big money to pay for all this machine labor.

2. Damage To Crops:

They can damage crops that do not support mechanization. Not all farms support this except maize, millet and so on that can be mechanized.

3. Destruction of soil structure:

The structure and texture of the soil is another focus you should look at. The solids its the main features when heavy machines are used to till the soil.

4. Contaminated Machines:

Contaminated machines can transfer infections and disease-causing organisms to plants and animals.

5.  High Cost Of Maintenance:

These machines require a lot to maintain. As time goes on, you will need to repair, grease, service and do a lot to keep the machines the same way as they are now.
