Travis Scott Biography and Life Story
On April 30, 1992, Jacques Webster gave birth to Travis Scott. He attended Elkins High School while growing up in the Houston suburb of Missouri City. Scott used to live with his grandma while his mother worked for Apple and his father owned and operated his own business. Prior to leaving school, Scott studied at The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas at San Antonio.
After viewing Mase and P. Diddy’s late ’90s rap videos, he developed an interest in music. Scott started producing beats at the age of barely 17. In 2009, he and his old friend Chris Holloway put out an EP on MySpace. He joined forces with OG Chess to form The Classmates the following year, and the two of them released two full-length albums in 2011. Scott alone produced each song for both albums. Due to monetary disagreements and emotional difficulties, the couple split up later in 2011.
Scott left Texas for Los Angeles after the divorce. He began to produce and distribute songs with the assistance of his friend Mike Waxx, the creator of the website Illroots. Scott published the song “Lights (Love Sick)” while he was living in Los Angeles, and T.I. listened to it. Later, Tip got in touch with Scott and invited him to a studio. The next line for Scott’s song “Animal” was freestyled by T.I.
Kanye West showed interest in Scott as well. Scott prepared his “Owl Pharaoh” EP in 2012 between working with the two rap legends. The mixtape wasn’t released until 2013 as a result of several problems. Scott then performed live gigs, released new music, and appeared on other artists’ works for the remainder of the year and into early 2015. Finally released in September 2015, his debut album “Rodeo” peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s rap albums chart.
The following year, Travis revealed the title of his second album, “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight,” and revealed the title of his third album, “Astroworld.” On June 3, “Pick Up the Phone,” featuring Young Thug and Quavo, became the lead single from his sophomore album. On the Billboard Hot 100, it peaked at No. 43 and received a double platinum certification.
Late in August, the rapper said that “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” was his final project. On September 2, the rapper debuted the song on the third episode of his radio program. For the first time ever, he topped the Billboard 200 chart when the set premiered there. Travis continued to work hard, joining forces with Kanye West to executive produce the follow-up to the compilation album “Cruel Summer,” “Cruel Winter.”
Later, Travis set out on a North American tour in support of his follow-up album, dubbed “Birds Eye View.” On March 10, 2017, it began in New Orleans and ended on June 2, 2017, in Eugene. Due to the tour’s popularity, he subsequently declared that he would also be going to Europe for the tour. Beginning on June 23 in Paris, France, and ending on July 9 in Turku, Finland, the trek’s European portion.
When he was thought to be dating Kylie Jenner in the same year, his personal life came under intense scrutiny. The two finally declared their relationship on Instagram official in May after months of dating rumors.
Travis revealed a joint album with Quavo called “Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho” while working on his third album, “Astroworld,” which was named after a theme park in Houston. On the Billboard 200 chart, the set debuted at No. 3 on December 21 after going on sale.
2018 got started to a successful start for Travis. On February 1, he gave birth to Stormi Webster, his first child with Kylie. In addition, “Astroworld” received positive reviews upon release. The album, which premiered on August 3, peaked at number one on the Billboard 200 with 537,000 sales, making it the second-largest debut of the year behind Drake’s “Scorpion.”
The singles from “Astroworld” were equally as popular commercially as the album. “Sicko Mode,” the album’s second single, debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 4 before reaching No. 1 and spending seventeen weeks in the top ten. Additionally, it made history as the first hip-hop song to spend at least 30 weeks in the top ten of the weekly chart.
The 61st Annual Grammy Awards were held on February 10, 2019 in Los Angeles, and in addition to topping the charts, “Sicko Mode” garnered nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, while “Astroworld” was nominated for Best Rap Album. Sadly, Cardi B, who won the award for her debut album “Invasion of Privacy,” forced him to give up the trophy. People at the time thought he should have won instead of Cardi, therefore his defeat made headlines.
Along with his Grammy snub, Travis made headlines in the same month for his appearance as a special guest at Maroon 5’s Super Bowl LIII halftime show in Atlanta, Georgia. His appearance with the seven-piece band, however, was met with harsh criticism from the public who believed that their performance was far from stellar.
Despite the criticism, Travis persisted in making music, collaborating with The Weeknd and SZA for the “Game of Thrones” final season soundtrack, “Power Is Power.” Travis Scott: Look Mom I Can Fly, a documentary, was made available on Netflix later in August.
When it was revealed in October that he broke up with Kylie after two years of dating, his private life was once again in the news. The beauty magnate was the subject of accusations that the rapper was cheating on her, but the rapper quickly shot those claims down. The two allegedly fabricated their breakup to promote his most recent hit, “Highest in the Room,” which was released on October 4. The track itself premiered at Little. 1 on the Hot 100 and became his second song to reach the top of the charts, despite the rumor receiving no response.
